Book Review – Everything Will Be All Right

This is a memoir that everyone should read. The accounts that are lived in this are truly heartbreaking. At times you forget you are reading a memoir and feel as if you are in the middle of a movie that has it all: Action, suspense, villains and heroes. I could not put this down once I picked it up. The events that Douglas Wallace endured should not happen to anyone yet it does. His story is one of hope in the darkest times. The power of perseverance, mind over matter and daring to not only dream, but work to achieve those dreams.

If Douglas can make it with all his hindrances, anyone can! As the title states, "Everything will be all right." His positive attitude, his persona and will to succeed is truly amazing. It inspires, gives hope and also forces you to recognize the poverty around you. Don’t take for granted what you have!

Again, a great memoir that reads like a novel. A must read! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Book Review – The Siren of Paris

February 23, 2013 Leave a comment

If you know me then you know that I love to read.  I recently read and reviewed an amazing book by David LeRoy called "The Siren of Paris," and I must say it is quite the read!

This is a great historical fiction book that takes place when Marc, the hero, finds himself in limbo reliving his WWII experiences.  I wont give away too much but it is quite the story that really paints a picture in your head.  It can be haunting, uplifting and sad.  This book really is amazing and one you should get for your Kindle or Kindle enabled device ASAP.

Magzter – iPhone App Review

Every once and a while I do like to read magazines.  They also provide good entertainment to other members of the family.  When looking around for an iPhone application that would make the family happy I came across Magzter.  It’s free and easy to use.  In app purchases are smooth and delivered quickly even over 3G.  My wife loved it and my daughter was able to use it easily as well.  Came in handy this weekend cause we had a long drive to a wedding.  Helped to keep my daughter entertained on the long drive and wait and my wife entertained while waiting for the wedding to start.  It was a simple and easy application to use and one that I highly recommend.

Free on iTunes.  Click Here To Download

InteractBooks – iPhone App Review

September 18, 2011 Leave a comment

I love to read on my iPhone.  I try to install my love of reading into my children and that can be tougher.  I read to her constantly and even use audio books.  However, it can be difficult to find good books on the iPhone that will engage my children like a physical book.  In comes InteractBooks!  I found this beauty on iTunes for the lovely price of "Free!" and downloaded it.  I got all the free books on there and tested them on my daughter.  She was hooked!  She loved to read the stories but the interaction with the stories sold her more!  This was a story she could read and play with!  She was in love!

She read two of the books I had on the app over and over again.  Finally, I got her some more books to read which she promptly did.  The only problem with this app is that your kids wont give you your phone back!  Works on the iPad as well, this application is a steal and a great way to get your kids to enjoy reading.
